Kintampo Police Arrest 11 Suspects in Drug Operation

Eleven arrested in intelligence-led anti-drug operation
The Kintampo District Police Command in the Bono East Region has arrested eleven (11) suspects in a targeted anti-drug operation aimed at curbing the sale, distribution, and abuse of illicit substances within the municipality.
The intelligence-led exercise was carried out on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in two communities—Babator and Kawampe—as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and clamp down on drug-related activities in the area.

Items seized during the operation
During the swoop, police retrieved a significant quantity of suspected illicit substances and related items, including:
- 65 wraps of suspected cannabis
- 49 pieces of dried leaves believed to be cannabis
- Compressed dried leaves concealed in polythene bags
- 19 blisters of tramadol tablets
- Five blisters of a substance marked “red”, commonly abused for its psychoactive effects
Additional items recovered include:
Cigarette packets (5 Oris, 3 Royals, 1 Rothmans)
Four keypad mobile phones
A radio set
Four pairs of scissors
Four lighters
Cash amounting to GH¢682.80, believed to be proceeds from drug sales

Police confirm arrests
The Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Samuel Kofi Gamson, officially confirmed the arrests, stating that both suspected drug peddlers and individuals believed to be users of illicit substances were taken into custody.
The suspects were identified as:
- Issahaka Amadu (25)
- Afia Sumaila (32)
- Yaw Johnson (20)
- Dankwa David (30)
- Abdul-Hakim Sumaila (16)
- Kofi Vandam (24)
- Yambon Cornelius (25)
- Jagri Seth (22)
- Mubarick Manteiso (36)
- Issahaku Abdul-Basit (39)
- Hamza Wedrago (24)
Commitment to law and order

Chief Superintendent Gamson emphasized that all suspects currently in custody will undergo thorough investigations and, if found culpable, will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Kintampo District Police Command also commended the operation team for their professionalism and vigilance, reaffirming its commitment to conducting regular operations aimed at curbing the growing incidence of drug-related activities within the municipality.
